Lyrics

My Own Way Home
By John Lauterjung

I remember the moon through the redwood trees.
I was feeling so fine, just doing what I pleased.
And I remember a girl with the sun in her eyes,
And the way she changed my life.

Well, we hitched a ride on a northern road,
Through the burning sands of desert
And the mountain tops so cold.
And we wandered for weeks with our heads full of dreams.
And the love we shared kept growing.

But now she’s gone and I’m all alone with my memories.
I don’t know why I ever let her go.
I guess I had to find my own way home.

Well we took a train down to Mexico.
Where the days are hot and the time moved so slow.
And we found our way to the ocean sand,
We were searching for that promised land.

But now she’s gone and I’m all alone with my memories.
I don’t know why I ever let her go.
I guess I had to find my own way home.
